Samin

Hi! I’m Samin — author of Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat, host of a Netflix documentary series based on the book, occasional podcaster, and former New York Times Magazine food columnist. My second book, Good Things, will be published this fall!

To be honest, I'm not quite sure what this space will grow up to be just yet. For now, I want to invite you to join me in sharing fun (and often funny) food stories, alongside some updates about my life behind the scenes (including lots of Fava 🐶). I hope you’ll come to think of this space as yours just as much as it is mine. Which is to say, I look forward to reading your comments and building a vibrant, supportive community where we can share ideas and learn together.

The Team

Amalia Mariño is a former restaurant cook, private chef, and caterer. She is currently in the best-job-ever as a Girl Friday specializing in foodstuffs, schedules, and Fava belly scratches. She lives in the East Bay with her husband, child, and one-eyed cat.

Ebony Haight is a writer and artist based in Oakland, California. She has 10+ years of experience as a UX design strategist, writer and editor for companies like Google, Pinterest, and Razorfish, and 5+ years of experience as a wardrobe stylist for companies like Nike, The Gap, and Apple. She wears handknit socks with sandals and is a professional Fava cuddler.

Robbie Jeanne is the most photogenic member of the behind-the-scenes team. He is a filmmaker, lover of donuts, and the wind beneath our wings.

Fava Bean is the boss.
