What's Good
weekly roundup #10
Every week Samin & the team post 3 things (give or take) we find delightful, enriching, and worth encouraging you to check out for yourself. When we have them, this is where you’ll find updates too.
Hope you get as much joy from all this as we do!
GOOD THINGS
As we hope you know by now, Samin’s new book came out on Tuesday!!! All the genuine excitement and support has been heartwarming. Thank you 🩷
GIFTS OF EARTH
The poet Joy Harjo’s poem—Perhaps the World Ends Here—was an inspiration during the writing of GOOD THINGS, so it seems right to share it with you now. Joy Harjo is a world-renowned poet, performer, and writer of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation. She served as US Poet Laureate from 2019 to 2022, and was the first Native American to do so. This poem references the sometimes simple, sometimes painfully complex, always necessary act of eating. And it speaks beautifully to the richness that comes from sharing meals—and all of life’s key moments—with others. Follow the link above to hear a recording of Harjo reading the poem.
WHODUNNIT
If you, like Samin and The Team, have been moving at a million miles an hour over these last few weeks, let us suggest the show Deadloch to unwind with. Samin introduced Amalia to the show as a binge-worthy option to help her through recovery from a recent surgery. Amalia loved the dark, dramatic, and also very funny show, and we think you might too!

As an Aussie living in the US, DEADLOCH was such a hoot!!!
Congrats on the book - it's wonderful and I'm reading it in bed (not easy) like a novel, :-).
I was stunned into silence several years ago when I had the immense pleasure of hearing Joy Harjo perform Perhaps the World Ends Here. I hope we can continue to gather round tables for nourishment, love, peace, and lessons in living. Thank you for your beautiful book!
